The Alte Pinakothek is one of the most important art galleries in Europe. It presents outstanding works from one of the world's largest collections of European paintings from the 14th to the 18th century. These include numerous major works by Dürer and Rubens as well as prominent key works by artists such as Rogier van der Weyden, Raphael, Titian, Altdorfer, Cranach, Jan Brueghel the Elder, van Dyck, Rembrandt, Poussin and Murillo.
Around two hundred paintings have been moved for the current presentation of the “Alte Meister in Bewegung" (Old Masters on the Move) collection. In the halls of the Upper Gallery, they meet in unusual contexts: Dialogic constellations and thematic groups invite visitors to rediscover the familiar masterpieces. In addition, the most important works from the Neue Pinakothek, which is currently closed for renovation, can be seen in the Alte Pinakothek; a unique opportunity to experience the most famous paintings from both museums together under one roof.
