Magda Bittner-Simmet Stiftung

The Künstlerhaus am Schwabinger Bach was built in 1972 by the artist Magda Bittner-Simmet in period style. A spacious studio apartment with a view of the English Garden was created on the top floor of the house. The studio became a social meeting place, with garden parties and house concerts. Magda Bittner-Simmet was a sought-after portraitist and many public figures sat for her here. Today, the former studio apartment houses a small museum with the artist's estate, an extraordinary place to directly experience Munich's art and contemporary history during the years of the post-WWII economic miracle.
