The World of Music on Banknotes: A Visual Concert

At first glance, the connection between money and music may seem unusual, but a closer look reveals a fascinating world. Across countries and eras, music has been a recurring theme on banknotes. In this exhibition, the G+D Foundation presents 45 banknotes from its extensive collection, inviting visitors on a journey through sound, cultural heritage, and national identity. The exhibition is complemented by musician-themed medals from the coin collection.

The ‘Cello Nation’ cello quartet provides the perfect musical accompaniment: every hour on the hour, a concert lasting around 15 minutes features works and excerpts by composers and musicians who also feature on the banknotes and medals on display. In this way, the visual world of the banknotes combines with the vibrant power of music to create a unique experience for both the ears and the eyes.

Short guided tours of the collection: every half hour from 6.30 pm
Cello concerts: every hour on the hour from 7.00 pm to midnight, lasting approx. 15 minutes
